The hit TV series The Traitors is back on our screens for another nail biting series, with Claudia Winkleman once again taking up the hosting mantle. The 52 year old presenter is returning for the third series of the BBC show, where 25 new contestants will vie for the £120k prize.

But it’s not just the on-screen drama that has fans hooked – Claudia’s off-screen life is equally intriguing. Thanks to a family connection, Claudia has ties to the Royal family.

Her sister, Sophie Winkleman, links the Strictly star to royalty. Sophie, an actress best known for her role as Big Suze in Peep Show and appearances in Death in Paradise and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, married into the Royal family in 2009. She wed Lord Frederick Windsor, son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, who is second cousin to King Charles III and currently 53rd in line to the British throne.

Claudia tied the knot with film producer Kris Thykier in 2000 and they have since welcomed three children, Jake, Matilda and Arthur. She has previously shared insights into their relationship, reports the Mirror.

Recalling the moment she knew he was ‘the one’, she told OK! Magazine that it was his kindness, impeccable manners and impressive bedroom skills that made her fall for him. “What did it for me was how he behaved in restaurants, bars and planes – indeed, simply around people. ‘Thanks so much’, ‘no rush’, ‘I’ll carry it over for you’, ‘here, have a drink on us’.”

Claudia, who worked as a waitress from the age of 16 during school holidays, said this was the magic characteristic that won her over. She also revealed that he always asks taxi drivers about their day and never takes a seat on the London Underground.

In an interview with Red Magazine, she discussed how they manage their busy schedules. “Working too hard puts a strain on – but we’re still working hard now,” she admitted. “We don’t have rules, but we look after each other more. So, whoever comes home first normally makes the dinner. It’s just about being nice to each other.”

Amid the release of her book Quite in 2020, Claudia confessed that she sometimes feels pressure on her relationship due to seeing other couples gushing over each other on social media.
