Police arrested a man following a New Year’s Day incident in Cambuslang which was attended by firearms officers.

Video footage shot at the scene shows at least six police vehicles, including an armed response team, on Howieshill Road on Wednesday morning.

Police had responded to a report of a ‘disturbance’ at around 7.55am on January 1 and armed officers wearing body armour were seen by passers-by, and also on the footage captured from the incident.

Officers remained at the scene a few hours later and a 43-year-old male was arrested. There were no reports of anyone injured.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 7.55am on Wednesday, 1 January, to a report of a disturbance in the Howieshill Road area of Cambuslang.

“Officers attended and a 43-year-old man was arrested. No one was injured and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
