Pondstretcher have announced the shock closure of one of their Ayrshire stores.
Irvine’s Riverway Retail Park will be left with an empty unit from Wednesday, January 8 as the firm confirmed the closure today (Friday, January 3).
Having been present in the town for more than a quarter of a century, the closure will be a blow to staff and customers.
Staff and customers were thanked for their “amazing support” for the Irvine store and Poundstretcher said they would still maintain a “strong presence” in Ayrshire with branches in Girvan, Prestwick and Saltcoats.
A spokesperson for the company said: “After over 25 years, we are saddened to announce the closure of our Irvine branch on the Riverway Retail Park. We will bring the shutters down for the last time on our Irvine store on Wednesday, January 8.
“However, with over 300 stores nationwide, Poundstretcher will still have a strong presence across Ayrshire, with stores in Girvan, Prestwick and Saltcoats.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank colleagues, past and present, as well as our customers for their amazing support over the past 25 years.”
