Free agent Ryan Kent has reportedly lost another Rangers ally as he searches for a new club.
Reports in Turkey had suggested the winger was on his way back to Ibrox after his Fenerbahce contract was ripped up just 16 months after leaving the Premiership – however it is now understood that the 27-year-old is now a target for the Light Blues with Technical Director Nils Koppen focussing on a younger profile of player. While a move back to Rangers appears to be off the table at this stage – despite Philippe Clement admitting to being a fan of the wide man – reports in Saudi had suggested Steven Gerrard and Michael Beale had been interested in taking Kent to Al-Ettifaq.
However, the chances of a deal appear to be rapidly fading for the Englishman. Koora report that Kent is off the shopping list with Ettifaq focussing on Saudi Pro League talents this month due to league limits on the number of foreign players per squad.
Elsewhere, Rangers face a waiting game in their pursuit of NK Osijek midfielder Marko Soldo. Nils Koppen and Clement are on the lookout for some January bargains and are said to be keeping tabs on the versatile 21-year-old star with the winter window fast approaching.
While a bid in the region of £2m was reportedly being considered the Croatian side have reportedly closed the door on a deal this month. Jutarnji report he “will not go anywhere in the winter” with the club open to a sale in the summer.
Iqraam Rayners is also reportedly on Rangers transfer shopping list – but the Mamelodi Sundowns appear to be hoping a bidding war will break out for the striker. SNL 24 report that the Scottish giants were handed a £2.4m price tag after showing initial interest.
The South African outlet now claim Belgian side Sportkring Beveren are also showing interest. It is claimed they will have “to meet the price or better it” that was issued to Rangers to land the frontman.Tune in to Hotline Live every Sunday to Thursday and have your say on the biggest issues in Scottish football.
