NEW YORK (WWBT) – Virginia Tech’s band helped kick off a farewell to Hoda Kotb on the “Today” show on Monday.
“I have to confess something,” Hoda said. “I knew that you guys were here, I heard you were here, so under my blazer I made sure I was wearing my Virginia Tech stuff.”
Kotb, who graduated from Tech in 1986, was also surprised by her sorority sisters from Tri Delta.
She announced in September that she was leaving “Today” after co-anchoring the morning show for six years.
Kotb started working for NBC News in 1998 as a correspondent for “Dateline” and joined the “Today” show team in 2007.
The show is holding a “Hoda-bration” throughout the week to celebrate Kotb. Her final day will be on Friday, but she will remain with NBC in another role.
