Out of favour Cyriel Dessers has reportedly been offered a route out of Rangers after tumbling down the pecking order.
The frontman started the campaign as Philippe Clement ‘s first-choice frontman but has rapidly fallen out the plans at Ibrox. The 30-year-old has been displaced as the first-choice striker under the Belgian since the emergence of Hamza Igamane while Danilo has also put his injury woes behind him and is challenging to lead the line.
Reports have suggested that French side Saint-Etienne have been chasing a deal but that Rangers £4million asking price had all-but ended the interest from the Ligue 1 side. However, a return to Serie A could be on the cards with Cagliari said to be chasing a deal for the Nigeria international this month and are “evaluating whether they should take concrete steps.” Centotrentuno report that the relegation-threatened club would be looking for a loan deal and an “economically sustainable solution”.
Dessers previously played in Italy with Cremonese before their relegation from the top flight. The Light Blues reportedly took the striker to the club from the Italian side for a fee in the region of £4.5m.
