Rangers boss Philippe Clement will survive in the Ibrox hot seat until the end of the season.

The Belgian’s future has been in focus for much of the first half of the season as his side careered from one crushing result to the next. But he will be given time, according to the Sunday Mail’s chief sportswriter Scott McDermott. He reckons the win over Celtic has given the boss some breathing space. Clement earned his first win over the Hoops to kick-off 2025 but Rangers followed up that impressive display against Brendan Rodgers‘ side with a disappointing 3-3 draw against Hibs.

That saw Celtic extend their lead at the Scottish Premiership summit once again – with the Hoops now holding a 13-point advantage over their rivals in the race for the title. The Light Blues’ record on the road has added to their struggles on the road – and Clement takes his side to Dundee on Thursday night.

Asked about the prospect of another slip-up at Dens Park raising pressure on Clement, McDermott told Record Sport’s Hotline Live: “I think he will get until the end of the season now. Unless it goes horrendously bad with a big run of losing games.

“The Old Firm win has bought him a bit of time. I have said before on here – I know Patrick Stewart (New CEO) comes into it – but the board’s interest will be to not sack him because they are getting rid of too many manager quickly. They will want to stick by him.

“Obviously there is Europe where they are sitting in a decent position, the Scottish Cup, and obviously we accept that the title is gone – I think he will get to the end of the season, pretty much, no matter what.”
