A former star from The Traitors had some joyful news to share shortly after their departure from the hit BBC series, with the host congratulating them.

In the episode that aired on Wednesday (January 8), viewers were gripped by the intense scenes as competitors returned but another loyal player was ousted. This action-packed episode followed the revelation of the first Traitor at the iconic Round Table meeting.

Not long after Armani’s secret role as a Traitor was exposed, the group was rocked by the discovery that her sister and Faithful Maia had met a grim fate in the game. Fans deduced that this was a strategic move by the Traitors to frame Freddie, who had already been under suspicion, reports Wales Online.

Maia graced The Traitors’ official video podcast, The Traitors Uncloaked, where she was introduced with a happier message. Joining her sibling on the spin-off show and accompanied by ousted contestant Kas, Maia received warm wishes from Ed Gamble, who remarked: “Maia and Kas are here with us now. And Maia, you’re having a baby, congratulations!”

One ecstatic fan took to social media sharing their disbelief with the post: “MAIA’S PREGNANT?? ” along with celebratory emojis. Meanwhile, Maia, a 25 year old Essex girl, opened up about her aspirations before entering the show, revealing her intention to use any winnings to secure a property.

She explained her life goal: “My plan, just in general with life is that I kind of want to disappear off the face of the earth. I want to live in the countryside, I want to have a very quiet life. And then if I have anything left over, I’ve got a lot of debts to sort out, and then I would go on a nice little holiday. I’ve always wanted to go to Bali, because of Eat, Pray, Love.”

Already devoted to her role as a full-time mother to Ava, aged two, Maia talked about her reasons for participating in the Traitors challenge before scaling the castle walls, highlighting the financial pressures of child-rearing as a key catalyst. “My daughter is going to nursery soon and that’s expensive. It’s like having a mortgage, so that was also a motivator.”

During her appearance on Uncloaked, Maia spilled the beans on why she had her suspicions about Freddie being a Traitor, only to express sheer astonishment upon discovering her instincts were misguided. Apologetically, she admitted: “I’m sorry Freddie! I really thought it was Freddie. When we got off the raft, I was confused why he got off. I got off because I was rubbish.”

Her misconceptions were quickly cleared up after her co-stars pointed out Freddie’s own struggle with the rowing task.

The Traitors continues tomorrow at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
