It’s the Princess of Wales’ 43rd birthday today and husband Prince William is reported to be planning some big things for her special day.
Kate has had a much publicised tough time of late – next week marks a year since she was admitted to hospital for abdominal surgery on January 16, just seven days after her 42nd birthday.
Kate delighted fans when she announced she’d finished her chemotherapy treatment in September, and now it’s reported that she will be looking to kick off a “new and happier year” with some intimate celebrations with her nearest and dearest.
As we reported yesterday, Kate will be marking the occasion at home in Windsor, with husband the Prince of Wales and their children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and six-year-old Prince Louis.
She spent nearly two weeks in the London Clinic after undergoing a major operation, and was recuperating at home when she was told she had cancer and had to begin treatment.
The Royal Family is hoping for a better 2025 after what William described as a “brutal” and probably “the hardest year” of his life, with his father, the King, also diagnosed with the disease.
Speaking of what could be planned for the mum of three, royal correspondent Jennie Bond recently told OK!: “This birthday is going to be memorable in so many ways – it will mark the start of a new and hopefully happier year and the end of one that has been brutal for the whole family.”
She added: “For her husband and children, this will be an excuse to spoil her rotten and, even though it falls on a school day, I’m sure that’s exactly what they’ll do.
Jennie also suggested some gifts that Kate could receive from her family, stating: “I imagine they will shower her with gifts – perhaps some pampering products like luxurious bath oils and scented candles.
“Maybe William will buy her some silk pyjamas or cashmere jumpers – things that are soft on skin that has been bruised by surgery and treatment.”
And, according to the expert, William could even head into the kitchen to show his love and support for his wife following her tough year.
She said: “Even though he says he’s not a very good cook, Catherine did tell Mary Berry that he’s quite good at breakfasts so maybe a tray – complete with a rose – will arrive early for her.”
She added: “Her own little family and her parents and siblings will certainly all want to make a fuss of Catherine as she embarks on a new year.”
Kate is expected to continue her gradual return to public duties with more appearances this year, including a possible trip overseas.
“I think hopefully Catherine will be doing a bit more next year, so we’ll have some more trips maybe lined up,” William said during his tour to Cape Town last autumn.
Kate has not taken part in an official foreign visit for more than 14 months.
