The engineering masterminds behind Ayr United’s new North Stand have landed a top award for their work.

Clancy Consulting beat off a host of high profile developments to win Best Sports Related Project at the Scottish Structural Awards.

The company provided both civil and structural engineering consultancy services on the development, which features a 748-seater stand beneath a cantilevered steel roof.

Lead structural engineer, Ross Taylor, and his team were recognised for their work in helping to deliver the new stand in a timeframe of just 12 months.

Alongside Denham Youd Architects and Ashleigh (Scotland) Ltd, they played a key role in delivery of the stand, which also includes a plush new hospitality suite catering for 220 guests integrated within the structure.

Ross explained: “Like any project, it definitely had its challenges and was our first involvement in football stadiums. But it was a thoroughly rewarding experience for all of the team and to get this kind of recognition when up against the calbire of opposition that we were is fantastic.”

The development, which re-used an existing brownfield site, saw Clancy impress judges with their use of techniques such as energy efficiency and ecology strategy.
