Celtic have agreed a loan exit for Odin Thiago Holm – with the youngster set to hook up with French superstars Olivier Giroud and Hugo Lloris at MLS big guns LA FC.
The 21-year-old Norwegian has struggled to break into the Hoops side this season and will look to kick-start his career in the US. Holm is waiting for his visa to be rubber stamped but is expected to hook up with the ambitious outfit for pre-season ahead of the new Major League Soccer campaign which gets underway in March.
LA FC’s Scottish technical director Neil McGuinness – who was previously a talent spotter for Celtic – told Record Sport: “He’s a very good player who, for whatever reasons, hasn’t had much of a chance at Celtic. I watched him in Norway and had an interest in him then.
“But obviously the pull Celtic and Europe was huge. He’s very good player technically, he reads the game well and can get out of pressure situations quickly, with a good passing range. Let’s see how he does with a full pre-season with us and I think he can get back to a good level. He has a full year to prove himself.”
Highly-rated Holm was a £2m signing from Valerenga in the summer of 2023 and was initially part of Brendan Rodgers’s first team set up. But he suffered injury in the second half of the season and fell down the pecking order before missing a chunk of pre-season last summer after picking up a knock.
The youngster will get an opportunity in the States but is still under contract at Parkhead until 2028. Meanwhile wide man Luis Palma is set to seal a loan move to Spanish outfit Rayo Vallecano.
The Honduran attacker has also struggled to get game time this season despite playing a big role in last season’s double. The 24-year-old – who was signed for around £3 – is expected to join the La Liga side until the end of the season.
