(Gray News) – It’s official: “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd is the song of the century.

On Friday, Billboard crowned the smash hit as the No. 1 song of the 21st century.

Billboard comprised a list of the top songs of the century so far, based on their performance on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The list looked at data from Jan. 1, 2000, through Dec. 28, 2024.

“Blinding Lights” spent a record 57 weeks in the Billboard Hot 100’s top 10 from February 2020 through April 2021, including four weeks at No. 1.

The song also had a record 86 weeks in the chart’s top 40.

Billboard has previously crowned the song as the No. 1 song on the Greatest of All Time Hot 100 Songs chart, which considered songs all the way back to the chart’s debut in 1958.

At the time, The Weeknd told Billboard the honor “hadn’t hit me yet” and that he just “counts his blessings.”

According to Billboard, these are the top 10 songs of the 21st century so far, based on chart performances:

  1. “Blinding Lights” – The Weeknd
  2. “Uptown Funk” – Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars
  3. “Stay” – The Kid LAROI & Justin Bieber
  4. “Party Rock Anthem” – LMFAO ft. Lauren Bennett & GoonRock
  5. “I Gotta Feeling” – The Black Eyed Peas
  6. “Shape of You” – Ed Sheeran
  7. “Last Night” – Morgan Wallen
  8. “Closer” – The Chainsmokers ft. Halsey
  9. “Levitating” – Dua Lipa
  10. “We Belong Together” – Mariah Carey

Billboard provided a full list of the top 100 songs of the century in an Instagram post.

In addition to the century’s top songs, Billboard also made lists of the top artists and the top albums, based on chart performances. Taylor Swift was named the No. 1 artist of the century, and Morgan Wallen’s “Dangerous: The Double Album” was crowned the top album of the century.
