BLUEFIELD, W.Va. -In the mountain state, Mercer County Republican Delegate Marty Gearheart is returning to his role as majority whip, but this time, under a new administration.

Gearheart says some of the issues he expects to hit the floor this session are pay raises and public employee’s insurance.

He also says the Governor Elect Patrick Morrisey has a different style than Governor Justice while believing Morrisey wants the best for West Virginia.

“Well, I’ve always had a good relationship with Governor Elect Morrisey. He has a different style than Governor Justice does. He’s sort of a pit bull. He gets an issue, and he gets after it and he works hard on it, and he doesn’t let it go, and I think his record as Attorney General somewhat reflects that,” said Gearheart.

Gearheart also says he’s passionate about other issues such as education and taxation, which could be addressed this year as well.
