FLORENCE, Texas — A fire near Florence in Williamson County has been contained.
Multiple fire departments responded to the fire near State Highway 138 and U.S. 183 on Saturday afternoon.
The fire spread to “a significant area,” according to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 3:50 p.m., the Williamson County Office of Emergency Management said the fire was contained. Firefighters remain on the scene to monitor for hot spots.
As of 4:15 p.m., SH 138 remains closed, while U.S. 183 and CR 223 are shut down in the affected areas.
The public is asked to avoid the area to allow emergency responders to work.
