BLUEFIELD, Va. -As you’ve heard, the winter weather can be dangerous, but it can also be fun, especially if you don’t get to see snow very often.

The hill outside of Bluefield University is a common spot to find people sledding, students included. Some of the BU students moving in this weekend took a break from unpacking to enjoy the winter wonderland outside their new doors.

They bought sleds or made do with what they had to enjoy a trip down the Bluefield University slope. For a few students, this was a relatively new experience, with some coming from places that don’t get as much snow as what we’ve seen recently.

“It’s crazy but it’s fun. I came out here sledding. First time doing it, so it’s fun…” says Kameron Jackson, a BU student from Albany, Georgia, “…I mean, it’s cold. Not used to it but you get used to it. It’s pretty fun…”

“I flipped the sled the first time I went down there and the second time because I was trying to make the path,” says Clayton Boyte, a BU student from Lynchburg, Virginia.

“…It’s a lot, you know, like I said… not a lot where I’m from, so seeing all this snow is… crazy, like I’m a kid again,” says K.J. Pollock, a BU student from Jackson, North Carolina.

Those we spoke to encourage their fellow students to make the most of the winter weather while it’s here, maybe even taking a trip down the hill themselves.
