Jesy Nelson has seemingly had a change of heart about motherhood and is now eagerly anticipating becoming a first-time mum.
The former Little Mix star, 33, surprised her fans on Sunday evening when she announced her pregnancy and hinted she is expecting twins in a sweet Instagram post.
The singer shared a photo of herself, with 26-year old musician Zion Foster, and her growing baby bump. Alongside the picture, she wrote: “She’s eating for three now” leading fans to believe she’s expecting twins, the Mirror reports.
This joyous news comes more than three years after she hinted that she didn’t see motherhood in her future.
Jesy, who rose to fame on The X Factor in 2011, shocked fans when she left Little Mix in December 2020 to pursue a solo career, leaving behind bandmates Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall.
She discussed her solo ambitions in several interviews the following year. During a conversation with Glamour magazine, she opened up about her views on parenting, admitting she wasn’t sure if she would become a mother in the future.
She told the magazine: “It’s just not in me. I think as a woman, [motherhood is] either in you or it isn’t.”
She commented: “You either have that maternal feeling or you don’t, and I’ve never had that feeling. I think women have to do what is right for them.”
Despite Little Mix bandmates Leigh-Anne and Perrie welcoming babies in 2021, she admitted to not having met their children yet, saying: “No. I’ve sent a few texts, but that’s it. I can’t explain it, it’s like there has to be this distance.”
Jesy Nelson has excited fans by revealing she’s expecting with her boyfriend Zion. The pair started dating in November 2022, and the happy news means their lives will now be forever intertwined as they anticipate their baby.
The announcement was well-received by her followers, with one saying: “Ah baby girl I’m so happy for you, what a wonderful mom your going to be.”
Another commented: “The smile i have on my face right now … I am so so happy for you. you deserve the world. congratulations beautiful girl” while another added: “So so so happy for u. Dreams do come true.”
Curiosity sparked among fans regarding her phrasing in the baby announcement post; hints of twins arose as one asked: “Does this mean twins? Eating for 3? ? ? ” and others speculated with similar excitement, questioning why she’d mention eating for three otherwise.
