Tazewell Co. Country Club lets people sleigh ride on its golf course

POUNDING MILL, Va. -While golf courses are not normally active after snowfall, one in Tazewell is an exception.

After having its golf course covered in snow, the Tazewell County Country Club held a “sleigh ride” event. While they’ve had sledding there before, this is the first time in around fifteen years that they’ve opened it up to the community.

In addition to the fun in the snow, there was also hot chocolate and snacks. The president of the Tazewell County Country Club, Mike Street, said the event was popular with the announcement post about it on Facebook getting around one hundred-twenty shares in less than twenty-four hours.

“We knew that… everyone’s been stuck in the house because of how cold it’s been for the past week and a half, you know? And it was just a perfect, perfect recipe for what we had, and we had probably… forty, fifty kids and then their parents, and we opened it up to all of them… The parents went down the hill, we went down the hill… it was just fantastic; it was a great event,” says Street.

Street says, based on how much snow they get in the future, they may bring back the sleigh ride event again. You can check the Tazewell County Country Club Facebook page to see when that announcement will be.
