Scots Love Island winner Paige Turley has given a health update on ex Lewis Capaldi as the singer reports continue that’s he’s planning his comeback after a break from music.
Lewis announced he was shelving live performances for the forseeable in June 2023 in order to focus on his mental health.
After a quick rise to global fame, the Someone You Loved star was seen visibly struggling with his Tourette’s syndrome during his emotional headline performance at Glastonbury that summer, which prompted the break.
Lewis has kept a low profile since then, though he’s been spotted out and about at times, including this visit to a newly opened pizzeria in Glasgow’s west end in October.
Over the months, there’s been reports that the hitmaker is keen to get back to his day job and has been working on new music.
We reported in June that Lewis had been spotted spending time in his home studio with fellow British musician Dan D’Lion, suggesting he may be dipping his toes back into the musical waters.
A source told the Sun at the time: “Lewis is doing really well, so much has changed in the past year. He has been looking after himself and getting lots of help and there’s been a sea change in how he’s feeling.”
And now fans hopes are growing of a return to the world stage for one of Scotland’s biggest musical exports after a recent update about Lewis’ health from ex girlfriend Paige.
Singer Paige, who dated Lewis when the pair were teens ahead of her Love Island win in 2020 was speaking about her ex beau at the Geordie Shore launch party earlier this week, as she told the Sun: “The last time I saw him was a couple of months ago because we were both out for one of our friends’ birthday parties, and he’s doing much better in himself. It was really nice to see him and he’s doing well – I don’t know if he’s writing, but he’s doing much better in himself.”
She added: “I obviously grew up with him so to see him in a low place has been difficult. It’s difficult because he’s been so under pressure as a global super star and I feel like the pressure has scared him a lot maybe. But I’ll say he really does seem like he’s in a much better place now.”
In June 2023, after a poignant performance at Glastonbury where he had difficulty singing his tracks, saying he was “annoyed with myself”, Lewis announced his intention to take a break to focus on “getting my mental and physical health in order”.
This followed the roaring success of his second album Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, which soared to the top of the charts and a Netflix documentary about his rapid rise to the spotlight.
The album boasted chart-topping hits such as Forget Me, Pointless, and Wish You The Best. Following that period, Lewis decided to take a step back from the limelight. On New Year’s Eve 2023, he reached out to his fans via Instagram with a heartfelt update about his “marked improvement” in health and hinted at a deluxe version of his album.
He shared at th time: “I want to make absolutely sure I’m 100 per cent before getting back out there again properly for more shows and doing what I love more than anything.”
Yesterday we reported Paige has confirmed she is in a new relationship after the smitten reality star turned down Love Island All Stars for her new mystery man.
The West Lothian native has moved on with her new other half, whose name has not been revealed, after splitting following three years with her ex Finley Tapp, who she won the ITV dating show with in 2020.
In December we reported Lewis had been spotted stepping out with his rumoured new partner at Noel Gallagher’s festive bash for his showbiz pals.
The singer was seen with influencer Remy O’Brien at London’s hip hangout the Chiltern Firehouse after reportedly splitting from Scots actress Ellie MacDowall in August.
