(Gray News) – “General Hospital” announced on social media Sunday that longtime actress Leslie Charleson died.
She was 79 years old.
The Daytime Emmy-nominated star played Monica Quartermaine on the soap opera series for nearly 50 years.
“Leslie was a beloved matriarch of the entire cast and crew. I will miss our daily chats, her quick wit and incredible presence on set,” Executive Producer Frank Valentini wrote in a post on Instagram.
A cause of death has not been released, though several media outlets have reported Charleson has been battling an undisclosed illness for some time.
“On behalf of everyone at General Hospital, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to her loved ones during this difficult time,” Valentini continued.
