Coatbridge, Airdrie and Monklands Rotary Club members and some very special guests brought fabulous festive cheer to elderly residents.

The group hosted its annual community Christmas lunch in Coatbridge Indoor Bowling Club – and visitors had a ball as they were treated to a slap-up meal and a variety of entertainment.

Musician Janice Toner was note-perfect as she had guests tapping their feet and clapping their hands.

And Santa Claus was joined by some of his elves to meet with people and hand out some presents.

A Coatbridge, Airdrie and Monklands Rotary Club spokesman told Lanarkshire Live: “Due to sickness, only 42 out of a possible 72 residents and staff from numerous organisations and care homes Monklands were in attendance.

“But they all had a great time as they were fed a delicious lunch and royally entertained all afternoon.

“Janice Toner kindly returned with her keyboard, along with Santa and his elves to bring much-needed Christmas cheer.

“The food that was left over was donated to a homeless charity in Glasgow.

“We’d like to thank everyone who came along and those who contributed towards the organisation and success of the event.

“The Christmas lunch is always one of the highlights of the club’s year and we are already looking forward to getting together for the event in 2025.

“The club has a lot of exciting things planned for this year and people can keep up to date through our website and Facebook page.”
