Islam Chesnokov is in talks with Hearts over a move to the capital.

Neil Critchley has already been active in the January window adding defender Jamie McCart from Rotherham United while striker Elton Kabangu also arrived on loan from Union Saint-Gilloise in a quick-fire double deal. The Gorgie side could now look to lock down the winger who is out of contract at current club Tobol Kostanay in October. He’s got 11 caps for his country while he also has European experience after playing in Europa League and Conference League qualifiers.

Hearts have alkso opened talks with Swedish outfit IFK Vernamo over defender Michael Steinwender. The Austrian has been identified as a replacement for Kye Rowles who is closing in on an exit from Tynecastle. He’s set to head for the MLS and join DC United in a £600,000 deal. Steinwender is said to have interest from Denmark but he reportedly he has his heart set on a move to the Scottish Premiership.

It could be a busy month at Hearts with Cammy Devlin believed to have interest from both England and the States. It is claimed Portsmouth in the English Championship and New York City FC are both keen on the midfielder. The likes of Yutaro Oda and Barrie McKay could yet depart with the duo down the pecking order under their new boss.

The Jambos are unbeaten in their last four league outings since the derby loss to Hibs on Boxing Day. They’ve won two in that run with a draw last time out at Aberdeen. It could have been all three poins but Jorge Grant was denied in the final seconds by Ross Doohan from 12-yards. Next up is Brechin City in the Scottish Cup on Friday night.
