The cartons were sold in multiple states -including Texas- late last year.

AUSTIN, Texas — Walmart wants customers to throw away one of its chicken broth products, sold mostly across southern states.

The 48-ounce Great Value Family Size Chicken Broth cartons have a shelf life that lasts until March 2026. They were sold in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas late last year.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the recall affects more than 2,000 cartons sold at 242 stores in the nine states. The containers reportedly had packaging problems that could lead to the broth spoiling, but no illnesses have been reported so far.

Walmart urges those who purchased the chicken broth to throw it away or return it for a full refund. The retailer is currently working with its supplier to investigate.

According to the Mayo Clinic, using the recalled broth could lead to food poisoning, which includes symptoms like upset stomach, diarrhea or vomiting.
