Could your name indicate your future success? Maybe, as a new study has revealed which names are the most common across the UK’s highest fliers.
The UK’s average salary currently sits around £37,000, according to experts. But which baby names will lead to a future salary far above this national average?
The study was conducted by online furniture supplier Furniture At Work, and combined ONS data with LinkedIn insights to identify which names were most common in wealthy business bosses.
“Michael” and “Sarah” topped the list, as the most likely names to bring in an average salary of £84,131. These names were most likely to be a Chief Executive Officer, which, according to the ONS, is the highest-paid role in the UK.
And “Michael” and “Sarah” are not only common names amongst CEOs. They also dominated the chart across the top ten highest-paying roles. Here are the top five names most likely to earn big bucks.
Top five baby names most likely to be successful
- Michael – the 88th most popular baby name for boys (according to the Office of National Statistics (ONS) top baby names of the last year)
- Sarah – the 127th most popular girls’ name
- David – the 65th most popular boys’ name
- Elizabeth – the 68th most popular girls’ name
- John – the 158th most popular boys’ name
But which job titles are earning the highest salaries? Here’s a breakdown of the United Kingdom’s highest-paying roles, their average salaries, and the names most likely to have these jobs.
- Chief Executive Officer – £84,131 – Michael & Sarah
- Marketing, Sales and Advertising Director – £83,015 – Michael & Sarah
- IT Director – £80,000 – Michael & Sarah
- PR and Communications Director – £79,886 – Michael & Sarah
