An Upstate New York woman has died and three Connecticut teenagers were injured in a head-on crash in New Fairfield, Conn. Monday night, state police said.
According to state troopers, a 2024 Hyundai Palisade traveling northbound on Ball Pond Road crashed with a 2017 Jeep Compass driving southbound on the same road around 9:30 p.m.
The two vehicles crashed “in a head-on type collision” just north of the Harvest Road intersection for an “unknown reason,” police said.
The intersection is about a mile east of the New York state line.
The driver of the Jeep, later identified as 62-year-old Diane Staab of Mahopac, N.Y., was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 17-year-old male, and his two passengers, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, all from the Town of New Fairfield, were transported to Danbury Hospital.
Their injuries are believed to be non-life threatening, according to police.
The crash remains under investigation, officials said. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
