Aldi is one of the UK’s most loved supermarkets. From being voted Britain’s cheapest for four years in a row to offering customers four years’ worth of groceries to celebrate, the German budget chain is good to its shoppers.
The store isn’t too shabby to work for, either, it seems. While one Aldi employee alleged that she was sacked for not scanning fast enough, using the snub as an excuse to spill everything the shop hides from shoppers, many others have lauded the supermarket.
A trio of employees have recently taken to social media to outline the top three skills required to ace it in retail. Speaking in uniform on the shop floor, the workers gave the internet an insight into their day-to-day tasks.
“I think you need to have really good customer service skills, you need to be able to work well under pressure, and work really well as part of a team,” one young woman explained.
“People skills,” another worker affirmed. “Work ethic, and being driven,” while the third agreed with the majority of traits, before adding: “Being driven and time management.”
Customers flocked to the comment section to give their take on what makes a strong Aldi worker based on their experience filling their baskets.
“Keep smiling and good energy even if you’re having a bad day,” wrote one Aldi faithful. “Give that customer a good experience of shopping in Aldi so they come back.”
A second chipped in: “Tidy mess, people skills, and a good attitude,” while a third reminded high heid yins: “That’s all fine and well but don’t forget to pay a really good wage. No one is going to smile all day to everyone for £10/h.”
A fourth joked: “Ohh and a degree on how to keep the bags wrapped around your hand as if it’s the Crown Jewels.”
