Love Island All Star’s Luca Bish has made the bold claim that he will quit the show if his ex-girlfriend Gemma Owen walks into the villa as a bombshell.
The ITV2 spin off show returned yesterday night for its second season with the 25-year-old fishmonger being among this year’s line up as the returning islanders are keen for a second chance at love.
Luca previously appeared in the eighth season of Love Island in 2022 where he was coupled up with Gemma Owen, who is the daughter of retired footballer Michael Owen.
The former couple came runners up to Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti, but they went their separate way three months later.
Speaking to The Sun about his ex Gemma, Luca said: “If Gemma walks back in… I’d walk out. I’d probably say ‘I’m a Love Islander, Get Me Out’.”
He added: “I’d back her all the way and just hope she’d have a better experience than last time.”
Addressing whether or not he would get back with the 21-year-old influencer, Luca said: “No, you can read a book twice but the ending never changes, that’s how I look at stuff like that… sorry Gemma.”
As he heads back into the villa, Luca claims he has “learnt from his past mistakes” after viewers complained about his “overprotective” behaviour towards Gemma.
He said: “I learnt lessons and it’s the lessons we learn from that make us who we are today. I definitely look back and think what a k***.
“But that’s why I’m coming on again. I get a second chance to show you guys the real me.”
The star, who recently split from his model girlfriend Giulia Ciancio just weeks ago, has said he will be doing things very different this time around as he claims to have matured a lot since his last stint in the villa almost three years ago.
Reflecting on his previous experience, he said: “I think the lessons I learnt is, you’re on a game show. Last time I was so raw and I thought everyone was my best friend and we were going to come out as a family and that’s not what happened.
“And also other lessons on how I can approach stations and how I maybe voice my opinions to someone, when’s the right time and when’s not the right time and not to get caught up with my emotions.
“I think that comes with maturity, when I left for the show I was 22. I came from a fish market and was just put straight into this world that I had no clue about. Especially when Jacques left, I became more cranky and not enjoy my experience as much.
“It has probably taken me the last two years to realise how lucky I was to be in that villa and the people I was in the villa with, and to not resent my situation and to take accountability for that.”
