Legendary golf star John Daly has shared a worrying picture of him bandaged up in a hospital bed after undergoing emergency surgery.
The five-time PGA Tour winner is facing a lengthy spell away from the game after the operation on his hand. The nature of his injury was not made clear but the popular 58-year-old made sure to reassure his fans that he will be woring hard to get back into action. Giving a thumbs up through his bandage, he posted on X: “Emergency hand surgery…thankful went great and Doc McClimans for taking care of me. Be back playing in no time!”.
Daly failed to win the Masters but was the 1991 PGA Champion and the 1995 US Open Champion. He has played on the PGA Champions Tour in recent years since turning 50 and becoming eligible in 2016. He has matched up against the likes of Tiger Woods in his stories career. But something must be in the water in the golfing world as some of the other elite players have needed similar operations. World number one Scottie Scheffler needed a procedure to correct an injury to his hand sustained in a freak accident on Christmas Day.
Scheffler’s manager Blake Smith explained: “On Christmas Day while preparing dinner, Scottie sustained a puncture wound to the palm of his right hand from a broken glass. Small glass fragments remained in the palm which required surgery. He has been told that he should be back to 100 percent in three to four weeks. Unfortunately, he will have to withdraw from The Sentry. His next scheduled tournament is The American Express (scheduled for January 16-19).”
