Dog lovers can enjoy a special new Valentine’s Day experience with their precious pooches at a Lanarkshire garden centre, as well as having the chance to donate funds to a canine charity.
The “paw-fect Valentine” event takes place at Dobbies Sandyholm in the Clyde Valley from Friday to Sunday, February 14 to 16.
It will see four-legged visitors “snuffle around the store in a sniff-ari trail” and receive a gift bag featuring a Valentine’s dog toy, dog treats and money off vouchers – while dogs and owners will also be able to take a treasured digital photo against the Valentine’s backdrop.
The event costs £12.50 per pooch, and customers will also be invited add a donation to Dogs Trust while booking their places to help towards the charity’s “mission of caring for, rehabilitating, and rehoming thousands of dogs every year”.
Organisers describe the specially-developed sensory walk as one where dogs are encouraged to explore their environment with their noses in an on-lead walk, with Valentine’s trail hearts dropped along the way to keep their humans friends entertained.
Dobbies events programme manager Ayesha Nickson said: “This is the first in our series of experiences for dogs at Dobbies Sandyholm store this year and we’re excited to see every customer – paws included! – enjoy all the fun that can be had at the Valentine event.
“Share the love with your pooch, create a memorable moment and support Dogs Trust who are doing remarkable work for dogs in need.”
Dobbies is “renowned for its love of dogs”, with the Sandyholm centre welcoming well-behaved dogs on leads in the store and a dedicated section of the restaurant, while monthly social media competition #DogsAtDobbies gives customers the chance to win a gift voucher.
