East Kilbride boxer Lewis Connelly is part of a ‘stacked’ evening of boxing at PlaySport next month that is to be televised live on BBC.

St Andrew’s Sporting Club’s Gladiators II evening sees five title fights taking part at the East Kilbride venue on Saturday, February 8.

Connelly is on the undercard alongside Jack Turner, Tyler Jolly, Luke Bibby and Sean Coyle.

Headlining is Matty McHale’s bout against Brandon Daord for the British Super Flyweight Championship.

Aaron Bird is hoping to beat Bobby Morrell to land the Celtic Light Heavyweight title, and Kurt Jackson defends his Commonwealth Youth Lightweight title against Newarthill’s Martin Crossan.

Jake Limond is fighting for the Commonwealth Youth Lightweight title, and Cassidy Todd takes on Victoria Perkins for the Celtic Super Bantamweight title.

Lewis Connelly made his professional debut in the previous Gladiators event in October, beating Jacob Marrer on points, and is eager to get back into the ring against Paul Scaife.

He said: “That first fight was a dream come true for me – to get that, and my fight live on DAZN, I’m just so grateful for that.

“Thanks to [promoter] Iain Wilson and everyone who helped me get there, and the best part is getting to do it again here in February.”

Tickets are available via Eventbrite or any of the boxers.
