A married couple have lodged plans to build a cattery next to their home in the Ayrshire countryside.

According to plans, Mr and Mrs J Kennedy are seeking permission for the venture at their home near Dailly.

Agents in the proposals are Mauchline-based MG Architectural Services who have detailed the proposals for the cattery, with 14 boarding pens and associated works, at the family home in ‘Woodside’ Kilgrammie.

A design and access statement read: “Woodside is a smallholding located nearly Dailly, South Ayrshire. Woodside is owned and occupied by Mr & Mrs J Kennedy and their young family. Mr Kennedy purchased Woodside in October 2015 and they have over the years invested and modernised the property.”

If approved then the cattery would be accessed via the existing shared access from the C44 road.

The statement continues: “The design concept is to create an extension to house 14 cat boarding pens, ensuring the finishes and design extension is in keeping with the rural vernacular and that it sits alongside to respect the countryside setting it is located.

“The concept is to utilise the existing steel portal framed building and extend it to the south so that it forms part of the existing cluster and blends into the existing buildings.

“We are aiming to achieve a design that will sit within its surroundings and give minimal impact to the surrounding area and neighbours.”

The statement concludes: “The site proposed will enjoy the seclusion and privacy offered via the proposed site without impinging on the privacy and environment of neighbouring properties. The proposed building and exterior finishes have been specified to give minimal visual impact.”

This latest application for a cattery is the second such application to be submitted to South Ayrshire Council planners in the last few weeks.

Ayrshire Live previously told how two small business owners announced plans for a new cattery in Monkton – boasting live web cams to see how your pet is doing.

Eric and Fiona Manson unveiled proposals for the business via a planning application and earmarked their garden, in the village’s Main Street, as the proposed site.

If approved, then The Cottage Cattery would operate cat boarding facilities at 1 Main Street for up to 20 cats within a 10-pen unit.

The proposals for ‘Woodside’ are currently listed as ‘pending consideration’ on South Ayrshire Council’s online planning portal and a decision on them is expected in March.
