Pet owners love their furry companions, but would you go as far as rejecting your dream job or taking a pay cut if it means your pet was allowed into the office? Many Brits are claiming that they would.

Shocking new research by Rover.com has revealed that more than a third (37 percent) of owners would reject a job entirely if they could not bring their dog to work. Almost half (43 percent) of the participants believed that they should have the same privileges as parents, as dogs are also part of the family.

More startling is that 29 percent of Brits said that they would even take a pay cut to ensure their four-legged friend could be at work, while one in five (20 percent) of people admitted that they would give up on their dream job if there was no room to accommodate their pup.

When it comes to priorities while looking for a job, almost a quarter of Brits (23 percent) said that having their dog at work was at the top of the list. This significantly outranked other perks such as a company gym (six percent), a company canteen (10 percent) and paid health care (18 percent).

These new figures have shown a huge cultural shift in Brits mindset to job hunting as a whopping 47 percent of dog owners are now expecting dog-friendly policies to be standard in workplace environments. The Mirror says this major shift is due to Brits believing that dogs help boost team morale, improve workplace atmosphere and reduce stress.

Additionally, one in four workers said that having a dog in the office helped ease everyone and allowed them to get to know others on a more personal level. Apart from being a good icebreaker, pups in offices are being given honorary titles such as ‘Chief Fun Operator’, ‘Pawsitivity Maker’ and ‘CEO of Happiness and Cuddles’.

The research has also revealed the top 10 dog-friendly cities in the country, which make up a third of the UK’s current workplaces accommodating dog-friendly policies.

Rover’s vice president of People and Culture, Jovana Teodorovic says: “With a growing demand for flexible, dog-friendly policies, it is clear that pet-friendly workplaces are not just a passing trend—they are becoming an essential aspect of modern office culture and a key factor in attracting and retaining top talent.

“Companies that embrace this shift can give themselves a real edge by creating a welcoming, inclusive environment that appeals to employees and potential recruits alike.”

She added: “For workplaces that may not yet accommodate pets, Rover offers flexible pet care options, allowing employees to arrange for a trusted sitter or dog walker to look after their furry friends during the working day. This ensures employees can focus on their tasks without worry, knowing their pets are in safe hands.”
