A search is underway to trace a missing driver involved in a horror crash on the A7.
Emergency services raced to the two-vehicle collision near to the Lindean Junction, north of Selkirk, at 7.10pm on Tuesday. Crews attended and a woman was found injured.
She was rushed to Borders General Hospital via ambulance, where her current condition is unknown.
Police say that on their arrival to the crash site, Shane Donnelly/Barr, believed to be the driver of the other car involved in the smash, was not at the scene when they arrived. Officers believe the 26-year-old may be injured.
Extensive searches are taking place to trace him. Shane, from Galashiels, is described as 6ft tall, with brown hair and facial hair, and has blue eyes. It is not known what he may be wearing.
Police Inspector David Aitchison said: “We are concerned for Shane’s welfare, as we believe he may have suffered injuries, and it is imperative that we trace him as soon as possible. Significant resources, including the police helicopter and dog branch, have been involved in searches of the local area and enquiries are continuing.
“Shane has links across the Scottish Borders and I am keen to hear from anyone who may have information about Shane’s whereabouts. Please get in touch, as we need to ensure his safety. I am also appealing directly to Shane, if you are reading this, please let us know you are safe and well.”
Anyone with any information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 3784 of 14 January, 2025.
