In-demand Mathias Kvistgaarden has already opened the door to a switch to Celtic from Brondby amid speculation over a January exit for Kyogo Furuhashi.
The Dane has been heavily linked with a move to the Scottish Premiership leaders in recent transfer windows and reports have suggested that Parkhead scouts were have been keeping tabs on the frontman this term. Reports have suggested that the Hoops have already “made contact” with the 22-year-old – who is also said to be attracting interest from Eintracht Frankfurt – but would only make a bid for £11m-rated Kvistgaarden if Kyogo departed the club in the winter window.
Reports in France suggest that Celtic’s talisman could be on the move this month with Stade Rennes in talks amid swirls over a switch to Major League Soccer side Atlanta United. And Kvistgaaden may take some convincing to leave the club where he came through the academy ranks should the Parkhead powerbrokers turn to him as a successor for the Japanese frontman.
While admitting he was ready to leave the Danish Superliga behind, the striker conceded he was looking to move after the current season. Asked if he felt ready for a move beyond Denmark, he responded last month: “100 percent, and as soon as possible. Now it’s starting to be time.
“I’ve said for many years that I’m happy to be in Brondby, and that I don’t mind being in Brondby, but now I’m starting to find myself in a situation where I want to go out and try something different. My plan is for it to be this summer.”
A deal appears as if it would only become a reality this month should Kyogo leave – and Rennes are reportedly eyeing other options should the deal hit a dead end. Foot Mercato report that former Celtic hero Odsonne Edouard is also being considered.
The Crystal Palace forward – currently on loan at Leicester City – is said to be available this month after struggling for game time with the Premier League strugglers. It is said Edouard is an “alternative option” to Kyogo as they look to boost their strikeforce.
One man who may not fill the void left by Kyogo is Daniel Cummings. The 18-year-old B team striker is attracting interest from West Ham and Brighton as he approaches the end of his Celtic contract – with the Parkhead chiefs pushing for a new deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.
