Aldi has upgraded its line of award-winning whisky’s with a new tipple just ahead of Burns Night – and it costs less than £18 a bottle.

Scots up and down the country will be gearing up to celebrate the life of Scottish poet Robert Burns on Saturday, January 25. Alongside your traditional haggis, neeps and tatties, a glass of Scotch is sure to be on the menu.

For anyone looking to get a budget-friendly option ahead of the annual holiday, then the supermarket’s brand new Glen Orrin 3-Year-Old Peated Whisky will offer high quality taste and an affordable price-tag.

Available in stores nationwide, this blended Scotch whisky offers up sweet notes of green moss and lavender, mixed with creamy notes of butterscotch. With its “lingering smoky finish”, it is still ideal for those who enjoy the traditional whisky flavour.

Costing just £17.99 for a 70cl bottle, it costs just a fraction of the price compared to other competitors. For example, the Bonnington 3-Year-Old Peated Whisky is priced at £79.95 for a 70cl bottle, making it 78 percent more expensive than Aldi.

According to the budget chain, its own-brand whisky is the “perfect accompaniment” to your traditional Burns supper, making it “the ideal tipple” for celebrating the life and works of the Scottish poet.

The Glen Orrin Peated Whisky joins a wide range of award-winning whisky’s currently on offer at Aldi for Burns Night. Its own brand Glen Mornach range, all priced at £17.99, has been a huge hit with shoppers a critics alike, often scooping top prizes at major competitions.

For example, the Glen Marnoch Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky was awarded a Silver standard at this year’s International Spirits Challenge. It boasts notes of rich nuttiness, with sweet undertones.

Shoppers can also toast a dram with Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky that offers an oaky, yet mellow finish. Also providing notes of dried fruits and cinnamon, this was another silver award winner for the discounter.

Another bottle that took home the same prize is the Single Malt Scotch Whisky that has been traditionally matured in hand-crafted white oak casks for a minimum of three years. According to the firm, it is expertly distilled process provides “unsurpassed flavour.”
