For the “first time” in 2025, Aldi has made a change to its UK stores, and it’s sure to make anyone waiting for Easter happy.

While we have only just got over Christmas and New Year, quite a few supermarkets are gearing up for the next holiday on the calendar. From chocolate eggs to chocolate bunnies, there are many seasonal treats available to buy in stores.

For hot cross buns fans, Aldi has just dropped its first batch of the seasonal favourite in stores. Said to cost from 18p per bun for a pack of six, the supermarket is living up to its value for money status.

Birmingham Live reports that shoppers can choose from a a luxury option priced slightly higher than its Village Bakery selection. However, there is also the Everyday Essentials Hot Cross Buns that expand the selection to customers compared to other rivals.

For £1.49, customers can purchase the Specially Selected Luxury Fruited Hot Cross Buns that feature sultanas, currants, and mixed peel. For a cheaper option, Aldi’s Village Bakery Fruited Hot Cross Buns are available at £1.09 for six buns.

The Village Bakery buns are described as soft and lightly spiced, perfect for toasting and serving with butter. All varieties, including the Specially Selected Luxury Fruited Hot Cross Buns, Village Bakery Fruited Hot Cross Buns and Everyday Essentials Hot Cross Buns, are now available in Aldi stores nationwide.

The chain said: “Un-bun-lievable! Shoppers may be still be digesting the last of the Christmas pudding, but Easter has already landed in the aisles of Aldi as the supermarket’s first batch of hot cross buns are now on shelves with prices starting from as little as 18p per bun.

“Shoppers can hop straight into Easter at Aldi by stocking up on the delicious Specially Selected Luxury Fruited Hot Cross Buns (£1.49, 4 pack), packed with sultanas, currants, and mixed peel. Soft and lightly spiced, Aldi’s Village Bakery Fruited Hot Cross Buns (£1.09, 6 pack) are perfect toasted and slathered in butter for a decadent treat.”

“Shoppers should keep an eye out for Aldi’s full range of hot cross buns which will land in stores for Easter.”

Aldi added: “Aldi’s Specially Selected Luxury Fruited Hot Cross Buns, Village Bakery Fruited Hot Cross Buns and Everyday Essentials Hot Cross Buns are available in stores now.”
