A woman has tragically died after falling ill at Rangers’ match against Aberdeen. Emergency services were called after the alarm was raised at Ibrox Stadium on Wednesday night.

Ambulance crews attended and the 39-year-old woman was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where she sadly passed away. The death is being treated as “unexplained” but police do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, we received a report of a woman having taken unwell at a match at Ibrox Stadium.

“Emergency services attended and the 39-year-old woman was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where she died. The death is being treated as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”

The match between Rangers and Aberdeen kicked off at 8pm on Wednesday.

The Ibrox side won the game 3-0 thanks to goals from Hamza Igamane, Leon Balogun and Cyriel Dessers.
