David Beckham is known to have a close relationship with the Royal Family and it seems he has even started trading some tips with the King over an unusual hobby they both share.

Despite being snubbed for a knighthood again this year, the former professional footballer still plays a very important role for the monarch as the ambassador of The King’s Foundation, which is a charity that offers education and training programs to people of all ages.

During a meeting to discuss the charity at the monarch’s Highgrove home in Gloucestershire last summer, Beckham confirmed that he had swapped some “beekeeping tips” with Charles which is a pastime they are both very passionate about.

The dad-of-four’s love for beekeeping was shown in the Beckham 2023 Netflix documentary about the footballer’s life which shows him walking in full apiarist attire to his beehives.

He has also previously uploaded videos and posts to his social media channels of him working on beehives.

Meanwhile, Charles is a huge fan of bees and is known to have many beehives at Buckingham Palace as well as at his Highgrove House country home in Tetbury.

According to the experts at BeeHoney, the monarch’s beehives are “integrated into a large organic farm and the gardens are said to be filled with plants and flowers that are attractive to pollinators.”

Some of the honey the bees produce can even be purchased from members of the public from the Highgrove Gardens website.

The official Clarence House account on X has also posted often about the beehives at the London Royal residence, urging summer visitors to Clarence House to look out for the beehives there.

The King is said to have deepened his bond with Beckham even further due to their shared love for apiculture. The 49-year-old was appointed the new role in The King’s Foundation last year and is passionate about the foundation’s work to help young people learn about nature and rural skills.

He said at the time: “I’m particularly looking forward to supporting the foundation’s education programmes and its efforts to ensure young people have greater access to nature.”

Speaking of their meeting to discuss their work plans, he said: “Having developed a love for the countryside I’m also on a personal mission to learn more about rural skills which is so central to the foundation’s work.

“It was inspiring to hear from the King about the work of His Majesty’s foundation during my recent visit to Highgrove Gardens – and compare beekeeping tips!”
