King Charles is reportedly failing to prepare his “beloved” daughter-in-law for her next royal role as Queen Consort.

The King spent much of his life preparing to take on the top job in the monarchy and was the longest serving Prince of Wales in history.

But despite his own slow and steady journey to be King – allowing him time to focus on his own favourite projects including environmental issues – Charles is apparently not in any rush now to help Kate Middleton.

Charles took over the role of King following the death of his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth, in 22. It’s reported that since then, neither he nor wife Queen Camilla – the current consort – are giving a helping hand to prepare the Princess of Wales for the future.

A Queen Consort is an official representative of the crown, and supports the monarch in both his personal and public life.

Royal expert Christopher Anderson told the Mirror that this reported fact doesn’t actually mean there’s a lack of a good relationship between Charles and Camilla and Kate. But he added: “The King is not about to be giving Kate advice about being a future queen.”

And the reason? It’s a poignant one, as Anderson claims that if the King and Camilla were spotted prepping Kate, it would raise fears that he’s preparing for his own departure.

Given the 70-year wait Charles had for the throne, it seems Charles is more focused on his own reign and wants to make his mark.

Meantime, Prince William has made it clear what his own focus will be when he does take over from his father.

During his visit to South Africa for the Earthshot Prize in November, he emphasised his commitment to “impact philanthropy, collaboration, convening and helping people”. He added: “I’m also going to throw empathy in there as well, because I really care about what I do. It helps impact people’s lives … and I think we could do with some more empathetic leadership around the world.”
