CAPE CORAL, Fla. (WBBH/WZVN) – A Florida man is shaken after making a gruesome discovery.
It was his sister’s decomposed and dismembered body in her Cape Coral backyard, but it appears the woman may not have died a violent death.
WARNING: This story contains details that some may find disturbing.
“When I walk in and I saw that, my first impression, it was a pig, like an animal,” Alejandro Llanes, Areles Llanes’ sibling, described. “No legs, no arms. It was like a big bag of skin. It was like, ‘God, I can’t believe what I’m looking at and seeing.’”
Pictures show dog feces and filth covering the floors of the southeast Cape Coral home, but the true horror is what Alejandro Llanes will never be able to unsee.
“It was a piece of a person. It was not even the full body because no legs, no arms,” Alejandro Llanes added.
He found his sister’s mangled body in the backyard of her house on SE Santa Barbara Place on Monday.
“We’ve been calling and no answer,” Alejandro Llanes said.
Areles Llanes’ body was severely decomposed with missing limbs.
“What happened is she was she was not living a healthy life, like drinking a lot of wine, not eating properly,” Alejandro Llanes said. “She probably collapsed in the backyard and after like a week, those dogs that were hungry are animals. They need to survive. They just start eating her.”
Police were at the scene Monday to put up yellow tape and place evidence in red bags.
Alejandro Llanes says his family hadn’t heard from his sister since December.
“We cleaned out the whole house because it was unbelievable the way she used to leave, and you have three big dogs inside the house and she never took care of anything.”
Alejandro Llanes said if there’s anything to learn from his sister’s devastating death is that her choice to isolate herself from her family and friends had heartbreaking consequences.
“You have to love yourself before you can love anyone,” Alejandro Llanes said.
The local animal control took the dogs into custody and they will be evaluated.
