Warning – this article contains major spoilers for Outlander season 7.

Outlander fans have been left stunned following a jaw-dropping reveal in the season seven finale, A Hundred Thousand Angels.

In the latest chapter of Starz’s gripping historical fantasy, time-traveller Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe) and her husband Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) are once again caught up in the American Revolution.

After receiving a near-fatal bullet wound in the penultimate episode of the season two weeks ago, Claire thankfully pulls through and moves back to Fraser’s Ridge for a slow recovery.

Meanwhile, some startling revelations are made about Jane Pocock (Silvia Presente), whom Jamie’s illegitimate son William Ransom (Charles Vandervaart) met as a sex worker named Arabella.

Jane is facing the gallows after killing a high-ranking British officer who threatened her sister, Frances (Florrie May Wilkinson). Sadly nothing can be done, and she takes her own life with a glass bottle.

However, her story isn’t quite over as earlier Claire had a dream about her ancestor Master Raymond (Dominique Pinon) asking for forgiveness. Later, once the Frasers agree to take in Frances as their foster child, Claire is struck by a song she sings; the same lullaby she sang to her stillborn baby, Faith, years ago.

Claire is now convinced Faith miraculously survived and eventually went on to mother Jane and Frances. Viewers have been left disgusted by this twist, as it means William unknowingly slept with his half-niece.

Taking to X, one fan fumed: “Ok @Outlander_STARZ i didn’t [think] ya’ll could f*** up the show anymore than u have in the past (I mean can we just completely erase S5?) but I digress — srsly? Faith?

“If u guys thought this thru very much cause that means Wm & his niece goofballs! #Outlander.”

Another wrote: “There’s no waaaay Faith lived are they fr”, to which someone else replied: “I’m in utter shock right now.”

And the original poster agreed: “Like I know we gotta be open minded sometimes with this show but come onnnn that’s a bit far fetched.”

“I feel absolutely sick to my stomach,” another fan raged. “Rollo’s death. Master Raymond dream. William sleeping w/ his half niece? Faith lived?

“Like the whole time I was like DAMN the actress that plays Jane looks so much like Brianna- WELL! I was onto sumn!”

“I can’t believe they actually used the Faith storyline… I’m shocked,” another post read.

While a user on Reddit reacted to the revelation about William: “All I can say is that I really hope that the show does NOT go down this road.”

And someone else agreed: “I really hope that William and Jane aren’t related. I’m not sure how to feel about this whole Faith situation.

“I thought for sure that Claire was hallucinating seeing Master Raymond, but what was Master Raymond talking about forgiveness for? I need season 8 now.”

Fans now face a lengthy wait for the eighth and final season to be released but, thankfully, more Outlander history will soon be revealed in the upcoming spin-off, Blood of My Blood.

Outlander is available to watch on MGM+ via Prime Video in the UK and on Starz in the US.
