A young dad has been handed a four-year ban following his fourth conviction for driving after taking drugs.
John Russell was warned that he is now on his last chance and further offending is likely to mean a prison sentence.
Russell, 22, of Bracken Street, New Stevenston, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.
He admitted driving with 10 times the permitted amount of cocaine in his blood. The offence happened in Sherry Avenue, Holytown, on July 12, 2023.
The court heard that previously Russell has been banned on three separate occasions for similar offences.
Sheriff John Speir fined him £420 and imposed a seven-month electronic tagging order that prevents Russell, a mechanic, leaving his home between 8pm and 6am each day.
He told the dad of one he has a “significant” record for “driving while under the influence of illicit substances”.
The sheriff added: “This is your last chance to stay out of custody.”
