A woman is in hospital after she was stabbed in broad daylight in Kirkcaldy.
Police were called to the horror incident on Cheviot Road, in Templehall, at 11.30am on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old victim is understood to have suffered multiple stab wounds. She was rushed to Victoria Hospital where she is now undergoing surgery.
Fife locals have been left terrified by the attack as police continue to hunt the knifeman.
One resident said: “It’s scary enough hearing about these things, but that’s not far from me.”
Another added: “What’s this world actually coming to! I’m scared for the younger kids walking the streets growing up!”
A third person penned: “Horrific, no wonder a lot of folk don’t venture from there home these days.”
Police say their investigation is ongoing and have asked for witnesses to come forward.
A statement from police said: “We are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted in Kirkcaldy on Wednesday, 15 January, 2025. The woman was taken to Victoria Hospital for treatment and enquiries are ongoing.”
