PRINCETON, W.Va. -With the recent winter weather, some scheduled medical appointments are being cancelled, and they potentially won’t be rescheduled due to patients.

WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital says many appointments during the recent winter storms have been canceled due to road conditions, but many of those appointments are not being rescheduled because patients are waiting for better weather.

When issues arise and you’re unable to get to your appointment, instead of meeting in person, you can meet over the phone for a telehealth appointment through the MyChart app.

Telehealth provides your doctor with the opportunity to communicate with you about any concerns and give guidance in the right direction.

The President and CEO of the hospital says for patients who are unable to use Telehealth appointments can be done on the telephone.

“Many of our offices offer telemedicine visits. So, if you must cancel an office visit and, you know, you’re worried about something, you’re afraid your blood pressure’s up, you know, something’s going on, please ask your office about doing telemedicine. That doesn’t mean you still shouldn’t be seen in person to get your blood pressure checked and to really see if you need any further testing, but at least a telemedicine visit is a check,” said Karen Bowling, President and CEO of WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital.

For patients at WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital appointments can be made for most primary care offices through the MyChart app.
