The stakes were incredibly high this week on The Traitors, as the remaining participants persevered in their quest. Having already ousted two deceivers masquerading as faithfuls, the group were adamant on identifying another fabricator.
Friday night’s suspense culminated with suspicion falling upon Frankie and Leon, as the group deliberated over who might be betraying them. In a dramatic turn of events, Leon received the majority vote and was expelled from the game at the roundtable.
However, the participants’ spirits sank when Leon disclosed that he was actually a loyal player all along. Following his surprising departure, Leon joined Ben Thompson and Luxmy Gopal on Saturday’s edition of BBC Breakfast, reports Wales Online.
The presenters aired a brief segment of Leon’s expulsion, prompting Luxmy to inquire about his feelings. Reflecting on the scene, he expressed: “Watching that back, it’s a bit heartbreaking. Bittersweet, you know what I mean?”
He continued to reflect on his endeavours, stating: “I know how hard I tried to make sure that I was doing the right thing for the guys, for my team, for the faithful, and it just wasn’t meant to be.”
Leon delved into the difficulties of deducing deceit within the show, mentioning that the contestants are essentially “clutching at straws”.
Soon after Leon’s elimination, viewers flocked to Twitter to voice their opinions, with many expressing dissatisfaction with his removal from the show.
One disgruntled fan exclaimed: “NOOOOOOOO, NOT LEON being banished. Argh I’m p****d. I really wanted him to get to the final and potentially win. But still rooting for Minah my girl!”
Another viewer shared their sympathy, remarking: “Aw I feel so sorry for Leon, when he realised Freddie was feeling attacked and isolated because of the clique he made an effort to make sure he was okay and now he’s out.”
Someone else expressed their disappointment with a simple, “Aww, Leon!” While yet another person sympathized with him saying: “Poor Leon is going to get blindsided.”
Following the shock exit of Leon, host Claudia Winkleman told the competitors that they would be enjoying a dinner party.
During this gathering, the remaining contenders took turns discussing their dreams about what they would do with the prize money if they won.
However, once the dinner folded, the spotlight turned back to game strategy as Minah and Charlotte reconvened to deliberate on who should be ‘murdered’ next in the contest.
Rejecting the idea of bringing another player into their circle of treachery, they concluded that Jake, Leanne, or Joe would be the next contestants at risk.
The Traitors continues Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One from 9pm. BBC Breakfast continues weekdays on BBC One from 6am.
