Brian May “has never been happier” after suffering a stroke, his wife has said. Former Eastenders star Anita Dobson said the guitarist was upbeat after the move away from London.

The 75-year-old said he had lost control of his arm and been told to relax after leaving hospital. And she said the 77-year-old’s recovery is going well.

May revealed in an Instagram post in September that he had suffered a stroke. The actress shared that the year didn’t get off to the best start, with both she and Brian taking a health hit after catching the flu.

But The Mirror reports she told The Sun: “Brian is stable now. Brian has never been happier since we moved.” Anita then shared more details about moving from London to the country.

She gushed that while the transition was more of a shock for her, Brian “loves” their new lifestyle, and is keeping busy feeding all of the animals living around them.

Alongside having been to Lapland at the beginning of the year, she added that she and Brian were heading out to Switzerland soon to see friends.

She said: “But apart from that we are just chilling at the moment and spending time at home is quite good. It makes you realise that at any minute it could be you.

“You don’t have to necessarily be old, It could be anyone. You have to live every day as if it was your last. It’s not easy to do that. You forget and think I’ve got another week and it’s all booked up.

“You have to be aware that life is precious and with life changing so fast we are all on a bit of a thin thread if you like.” Brian revealed the troubling news about his stroke last autumn.

Sharing a video in which he gave an update but showed off his high spirits as he started his recovery, he said: “I hope you’re all well out there. I’m here to bring you first of all some good news.

“I think good news is that I can play guitar after the events of the last few days and I say this because it was in some doubt because that little health hiccup that I mentioned happened about a week ago.

“What they called it was a minor stroke and all of a sudden – out of the blue – I didn’t have any control over this arm so was a little scary. I have to say I had the most fantastic care and attention from Frimley Hospital where I went blue lights flashing… the lot.

Very exciting! So, good news is I’m okay. Just doing what I’m told which is basically nothing. I’m grounded I’m not allowed to go out – well I’m not allowed to drive.

“Not allowed to get on a plane, not allowed to raise the heart rate too high, not allowed to have planes flying over, which will stress me. But I’m good.”
