WALLINGFORD, Conn. (WFSB/Gray News) – A car dealership worker in Connecticut has died after an accident involving a forklift.
Wallingford authorities said it happened on Jan. 10 at the Executive Dodge Jeep Ram dealership on South Orchard Street.
According to fire officials, an employee, later identified as 34-year-old Thomas Orris, was using a forklift to remove a container from a truck.
Orris was operating the forklift up a slanted driveway when for unknown reasons he stopped midway and got out to check something.
Authorities said that is when the forklift began to roll down the driveway. Orris ran after it, trying to stop the forklift with his hands.
Unfortunately, he ended up getting caught between the truck and the forklift.
First responders rendered CPR and Orris was transported to the hospital but he did not survive.
The dealership said they would be closed on Monday to attend his funeral.
“Will be closed to honor and attend funeral services for our beloved friend and co-worker,“ the dealership shared. ”We appreciate your understanding during this time as we come together to remember and celebrate their life.”
