T’Pau vocalist Carol Decker was revealed as the celebrity behind the Tattoo costume on The Masked Singer.

The star, aged 67, was voted out the show on Saturday (January 18) after ending up in the bottom two with the Dressed Crab, once all the contestants had preformed.

Speaking to presenter Joel Dommett, Carol shared that she had “loved” being on the programme but was “gutted” to leave during the superhero-themed episode, remarking, “Everybody is amazing. I’m gutted because it’s the best fun ever.”

Carol found fame as the lead singer of the 80’s pop band T’Pau, known for their hits such as ‘Chine In Your Hand’, ‘Heart And Soul’ and ‘Valentine’.

She had also released a solo single ‘One Heart’ and appeared in BBC’s singing reality show ‘Just The Two Of Us’.

Additionally, the singer participated in Celebrity MasterChef in 2018 and in 2005’s entertainment show ‘Hit Me, Baby, One More Time’.

Following the audience vote for favourite acts, it was revealed that Dressed Crab and Tattoo would have to face off to stay in the competition, having received the lowest number of votes.

Dressed Crab performed a heartfelt rendition of ‘Drift Away’ by The Neville Brothers, and Tattoo covered Tina Turner’s iconic ‘Proud Mary’.

Delivering the verdict for the panel, Maya Jama said it was the “hardest decision”, but they chose to save Dressed Crab, resulting in Tattoo being eliminated.

Before Carol revealed her identity, the panel made their final guesses. Comedian Mo Gilligan suggested Australian singer Dannii Minogue, while presenter Davina McCall thought it might be singer and TV host Nicole Appleton.

Love Island host Jama guessed former EastEnders star Lacey Turner, and talk show host Jonathan Ross speculated Countdown star Rachel Riley. Guest panellist and Olympian Tom Daley believed it was TV presenter Kym Marsh.

Earlier in the show, Tattoo performed The Killers ‘Human’ which lead judge Mo to believe that Little Mix singer Jade Thirlwall was under the mask. While Davina suggested it could be Doctor Who star Catherine Tate and Jonathan considered actress Lesley Joseph.

The first performer of the night was Dressed Crab, who delivered a lively rendition of Earth, Wind & Fire’s Let’s Groove. Jonathan thought it might be American singer-songwriter Nile Rodgers, while Mo was convinced it was British singer Seal.

Presenters Maya and Davina both thought it could be Pose star Billy Porter and Tom opted for American Idol star Adam Lambert.

The episode also saw Teeth perform Dua Lipa’s hit Houdini, with several football references leading the panel to consider former footballers Alex Scott or Jill Scott.

Kingfisher performed Iris by Goo Goo Dolls, with Tom thinking it could be gameshow host Bradley Walsh, while Maya opted for footballer and presenter Dion Dublin.

The last contestant to perform was Snail, who gave a powerful performance of Rule The World by Take That.

The strong vocals led Mo to think it could be X Factor star Leona Lewis and Jonathan thought it might be Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle.
