The Chase enthusiasts were left stunned after learning that the beloved ITV quiz show has been yanked from its usual slot.
Hosted by Bradley Walsh, The Chase features a team of seven quizzers: Shaun Wallace (The Dark Destroyer), Jenny Ryan (The Vixen), Darragh Ennis (The Menace), Mark Labbett (The Beast), Anne Hegerty (The Governess), and Paul Sinha (The Sinnerman).
Viewers keen to catch the programme on Monday, January 20, will need to seek other entertainment as Donald Trump’s Inauguration is set to eat into The Chase’s airtime.
Tom Bradby of ITV News will anchor a two-hour special broadcast live from Washington, D. C., covering President Trump’s second swearing-in ceremony, reports the Express.
Donald Trump, the former US leader, emerged victorious over Kamala Harris in the November election battle, following Joe Biden’s term.
In a scheduling shuffle, Deal Or No Deal will also shift, with Stephen Mulhern’s game show kicking off an hour earlier at 3pm instead of its usual 4pm start.
Regulars of The Chase are well aware that it typically airs at 5pm on weekdays. However, on Monday, the schedule will be all about the US inauguration, sidelining The Chase for the day.
Disgruntled fans expressed their dismay on platform X, commenting on the temporary loss of their preferred quiz show.
One viewer said: “The Chase won’t be on Monday due the inauguration of the US president #TheChase.” Someone else commented: “The Chase is not coming on! ! [fuming face emoji].”
Another viewer expressed frustration, saying: “And bumped deal or no deal to 3.00pm (at least a bit more notice this time around unlike the sudden change in December).”
However, fans won’t be left in the lurch for long, as fresh episodes of The Chase are set to make a comeback on Tuesday (January 21).
The Chase is available to watch on ITVX.
