Meghan Markle‘s cherished engagement ring, originally made with two diamonds from Princess Diana’s collection and one from Botswana, has been through several revisions since Prince Harry popped the question.

Fans believe they’ve spotted another significant alteration in the trailer for her latest Netflix series. Given to Meghan when the couple got engaged in 2017, the ring was significantly redesigned in 2019, exchanging a plain gold band for a slender micropave design.

In 2023, Meghan was seen without the ring on various occasions, amid reports it was being repaired due to a loose stone. Now, spectators are convinced there’s been another update – particularly to the central diamond’s shape.

In the ‘With Love, Meghan’ trailer, a scene where the Duchess is seen reaching for flowers showcases her full ring, prompting observations that the main diamond now seems square cut rather than the original round.

On X, one fan queried: “Is that a new engagement ring?” Another commented: “Looks like she’s changed the centre stone from a round diamond to the more expensive square cut.”

The public first glimpsed Meghan’s engagement ring back in 2017 during a photocall at Kensington Palace when she and Harry celebrated their engagement announcement.

In a touching interview, Harry shared the sentimental value behind Meghan’s engagement ring, saying: “The ring is – is obviously yellow gold because that’s her favourite and the main stone itself I sourced from Botswana and the little diamonds either side are from my mother’s jewellery collection to make sure that she’s with us on this crazy journey together.”

However, by Trooping the Colour in 2019, Meghan’s ring had undergone a transformation, now set on a delicate micropave band and accompanied by another eye-catching piece. The reason for the redesign and the significance of the new eternity band were revealed in the couple’s biography ‘Finding Freedom’ by Royal reporters Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand.

They wrote: “On May 19, 2019, Harry also surprised his wife of one year with the gift of a ring that he had created with jeweller-to-the-stars Lorraine Schwartz, a favourite of Meghan’s.”

“The conflict-free diamond eternity band paid homage to the family of three with Meghan’s, the newly born Prince Archie’s and Harry’s birthstones (peridot, emerald, and sapphire, respectively) on the underside of the ring.”

The jewellers themselves expressed how Harry wanted the ring to be special, commenting: “Harry wanted to make it special. He’s the loveliest person ever. So romantic, so thoughtful.”

Furthermore, the book details Harry’s decision to have Lorraine resize and reset Meghan’s engagement ring with a new diamond band. Meghan was spotted without her ring at several events in 2023, including the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf.

A source told Page Six that the ring was “being fixed”, explaining its absence from her finger. However, recent sightings show that she has started wearing it again.
