It has been a quiet window so far for Brendan Rodgers.
The Celtic boss has played his cards close to his chest throughout January but winger appears to be top of the Parkhead agenda before the winter window slams shut with the Hoops looking to dominate domestically while also make their mark on the Champions League. While fringe men Luis Palma and Maik Nawrocki look like they will be allowed to follow Stephen Welsh out of the club.
There is also key men at the club who are attracting interest from across Europe having impressed in Europe’s elite competition – as well as playing a key role in the surge towards another Premiership crown. But who could be on the move? Record Sport takes a look.
Nicolas Kuhn
Newcastle United have reportedly “run the rule” over Celtic winger Nicolas Kuhn, according to the Newcastle Chronicle. The report notes that the Premier League side are trying to beef up their scouting network in Scotland but have sent senior scouts to Parkhead this term with Kuhn the stand out performer.. No formal approach has been made and Record Sport previously revealed that Kuhn’s agent Christian Nerlinger player down a mid-season Parkhead exit.
Kieran Tierney
Kieran Tierney is inching closer to a return to Celtic Park with his Arsenal contract ticking down. The 27-year-old looks set to rubber-stamp a pre-contract agreement with his boyhood club to secure an exit from the Emirates after the Premier League heavyweights have opted against triggering a 12-month extension clause. Fotomac report that Fenerbahce had launched a late bid for the player but have “waved the white flag” with the player making it clear that the Hoops are his first choice.
Alexandro Bernabei
Alexandro Bernabei has finally sealed his permanent move from Internacional. The left-back found success in Brazil last season with reports in South America suggesting a £5m package has been agreed for the Argentinian.
After sealing the move, Bernabei said: “I am very happy here, and so is my family. I want to continue giving my best to help Inter achieve great results. I know how big and important it is to wear this shirt. Now, I have to continue seeking the best achievements together with my teammates and our fans.”
Mathias Kvistgaarden
Brondby’s Mathias Kvistgaarden has been on the agenda for the Hoops throughout the last few windows with the Danish club are demanding a minimum of £8.4m to sell in the winter window. Sky Germany report that the Premiership leaders face competition for a deal with Eintracht Frankfurt eying the frontman to replace Manchester City-bound Omar Marmoush.
Kyogo Furuhashi
The striker reportedly still remains a target for Stade Rennes. Ouest-France report that Kyogo “is still among the priorities” with the club considering a £12m move. However, convincing Celtic to sell is said to be tough with the club “still involved in the Champions League”.On the window so far, Rennes president Arnaud Pouille said: “The transfer window is often a game of dominoes, where you sometimes have to be a little patient while knowing how to make quick decisions. We are in an emergency situation, but that is not a reason to do anything.”
